1960年2月，在山西省平陸縣，數萬名民工為支援三門峽建設工程，正在熱火朝天地修築風南公路。縣委書記郝世山正在組織召開縣委擴大會。突然，縣公安局燕局長向郝書記匯報：風南公路第三連有6l位民工發生食物中毒，情況很危險。郝書記立即宣布休會趕赴現場。郝書記一麵親自領導搶救，一麵派公安局燕局長調查案情。醫院的醫護人員全力投入搶救，經過會診和化驗的結果，證明是砒霜中毒，因民工中毒太深，非用特效藥“二巰基丙醇”不可。當得知三門峽市藥店有這種藥時，郝書記立即派兩名司藥員火速前去尋找。可那裏隻有20支，離所需的1000支相差甚遠。郝書記一邊給省委陶書記打電話求援，一邊派人四處尋找。雖然找到一些，但數量很少，而且因路途較遠，救不了急，61條生命危在旦夕。消息終於傳到北京，中央和毛主席都很關心。衛生部積極組織人力，從藥品商店、藥品倉庫尋找此藥，當藥品準備齊後，衛生部藥政...
