約翰尼·德普將主演驚悚片《水俁病》(Minamata)，飾演史上最著名的攝影記者之一尤金·史密斯。影片由Andrew Levitas(《搖籃曲》)執導，明年1月在日本開拍，也將去塞爾維亞拍攝。講述因二戰時期作品而知名的攝影師史密斯在1971年本已隱居，但受Life雜誌編輯Ralph Graves委托，他再次拿起相機，去日本記錄因汞汙染引起的震驚全球的怪病“水俁病”現狀，和政府所做的掩蓋。當時該事件已進入確定責任階段，受害者與企業談判中。
