平凡的一天，供職於洛杉磯某銀行的經理瑪麗·沃什（布莉特妮·墨菲 Brittany Murphy 飾）請假陪同男友凱文·皮特森（迪恩·凱恩 Dean Cain 飾）去做一項常規的韌帶手術。一切看似正常，但是自從瑪麗離開手術室後便再未見過凱文。由於等候過於漫長，她請求服務台查詢手術情況，結果發現並沒有凱文的治療記錄，原定的主刀醫生休假，連當初接待的護士也查無此人。警方隨後介入調查，結果依舊一無所獲。警方和醫院負責人大為光火，他們開始懷疑瑪麗所說的一切，甚至認為她精神出現問題。真相究竟如何？凱文到底又在何方？ 本片女主角Brittany Murphy於2009年12月20日去世，享年32歲。
