1985-92播出7季，還拍了兩部電視電影的ABC老劇《百戰天龍 MacGyver》，被CBS接手翻拍。MacGyver在原劇中是個不喜用槍的人，但卻能用一把瑞士刀等東西解決各種事件。CBS對本劇的關注度很高。新版主演會年輕10年，講述20多歲的MacGyver被招入一個隱秘的部門，劇中會解釋他是如何學到一身如何解決難題的不同技能。
定檔秋檔的《百戰天龍 MacGyver》預訂後重選演員﹑編劇及導演，原班底隻留下主角Lucas Till及George Eads。
在拍攝試映集時把導演從溫子仁換成David Von Ancken，但當預告片放出後惡評如潮，CBS因此清洗了大部份演員﹑編劇與導演。溫子仁再次走馬上任，負責執導這部CBS有很高期待的新劇。
