故事講述洛杉磯出現了神秘巨大天坑，一個家庭也由此被一分為二，母親&兒子與父親&女兒被迫分離。當一部分家庭發現自己和一群形形色色的陌生人一起身處在一個無法解釋的原始世界時，他們必須努力求生，並揭開自己身處何處、是否有回家的路的謎團。岡薩雷斯將飾演一名空軍飛行員，他被招募來領導拯救落入天坑的人的任務。
